Pretty Perfect Solution for an Awkward Space

Hey, y’all! Welcome to Sweet Sorghum Living–a place to sit a spell with a good cup of coffee and enjoy good conversation about everything from fun DIYs to handmade goodness. Today on the blog, we are chatting walls–awkward walls….y’all know the ones I am talking about…the ones that seem to randomly jut out…the ones that have to be there or your house falls down…yep, those.

Bless! I have lots of those awkward wall spaces in my renovated 1920 house. But I knew that going in…besides I would much rather have big, gorgeous windows with a view than perfect wall spaces *smile*

A few weeks ago, I decided to tackle one of my awkward wall spaces…I was getting ready for a Christmas party…and I wanted to gussy up the kitchen a bit. So, I went on a hunt for something…no idea what…just something to hang…something to make the kitchen more me…less generic. I didn’t want to invest a lot of money because I am still working on my kitchen, and I don’t know the overall direction I am going. Where was I? Oh, yes. I went on a hunt…and found the perfect pieces to display on the awkward wall spaces.

I found the vintage yellow step stool at the Tree Streets Yard Sale in Johnson City, Tennessee. It fits perfectly into the awkward corner.

I love mixing metals...I know I have stated that several times on the blog, but I really do like how they shine *smile*

I decided to paint the walls in the kitchen a pretty vintage mint--more details to come.

I just love how my collage of platters and molds turned out. The good news is...if I change my mind...I have lots of serving pieces *wink*

Thanks so much for sitting a spell with me today as we chatted about awkward wall spaces. The best advice I can give is don’t be afraid to experiment. I bought more pieces than needed, but that is okay because they can be used somewhere else in my house. I must have rearranged the platters and molds a million times on the floor before finding a layout I loved. But it was fun *smile*
