Fixing a Pinterest Furniture Fail

Just doing a little scraping on a rainy day.

Just doing a little paint scraping on a rainy day.

Hey, y’all! Welcome to Sweet Sorghum Living–a place to sit a spell with a good cup of coffee and watch other people work *wink* Today on the blog, we are chatting about a recent side table purchase that I made and how it was a total Pinterest fail.

The paint just peels right off!

Now, I knew when I got it that it wasn’t the best paint job–BUT I had no idea at the time how terrible it really was. I had plans for repainting it down the road, but not in a couple of weeks after bringing it home! I cannot complain too much because I only gave $20 for it…but still…the fact remains that just because a DIY project is popular on Pinterest doesn’t mean that everyone should jump on the bandwagon.

Just because Johnny or Jane believes that he or she has created a product worthy to sell to the public, AND just because he or she can purchase “paint” at the local grocery store doesn’t mean he or she should.

Also, please do not slather craft paint on a piece of furniture. Could you use craft paint for an elementary poster about the Presidents of the United States–absolutely…Grandmother’s antique hutch–absolutely not. For that matter, don’t attempt to paint that antique hutch without really thinking about it and researching the best way to redo it because some items should be left just the way they are–so, drop the craft paint, y’all! Drop it! And back away slowly *wink*

It only took me about 30 minutes to remove all the paint from the top of the little table. Probably less. I made, edited, and uploaded a video during that time *wink*

Check out the video that I made about my “Pinterest Fail” purchase *smile*

Thanks so much for sitting a spell with me today as we chatted about poor paint jobs and a Pinterest fail. Hopefully, I will be able to get the paint off the belt without too much trouble! Currently, I am working on getting the paint off the legs–good news is it is coming off very easily!

I am not sure what color I am going to paint the cute, little table once I get all the cheap blue junk off of it. What color suggestions do y’all have? Just let me know in the comment section + stay tuned to see its transformation!
