About

Hi! My name is Chasidy Hathorn, the founding author of Sweet Sorghum Living and an emerging artist who is addicted to rusty metal and coffee (but who isn’t *wink*). I created Sweet Sorghum Living as a way to share all the randomness in my life–from home renovation projects (Bless! There have been so many!) to gluten-free goodies (because I have Celiac Disease, not because I am trendy…because I am so not trendy or hip or cool).

Since I was a little girl, I have loved sparkly things, rusty treasures, and vivid storytelling. Artistry and woodworking are in my blood. Back in the day, my mom was a fabulous seamstress, DIYer (way before Pinterest made it cool), and cake decorator (way before TV made it cool). From watching my granddaddy craft a small log cabin for my older sister to watching my dad build furniture for my childhood home, I have found creative ways to incorporate these precious memories into my art, home projects, and blog.ย Yes, creating and storytelling are in my blood–my heart and soul.

Spunky and Adorable

I have always been a little spit fire.

Originally from Mississippi, I’m currently living in a 1920 home in Johnson City, Tennessee with the hubby, daughter (who is in college and enjoying dorm life), and three furbabies. When I’m not in my studio creating or busy styling for clients, I am volunteering for various local organizations, taking art and gardening classes, blogging my random adventures and projects, and exploring the areas around me looking for junky treasures and inspiration for the next art piece. I recently exhibited at the Journeys for Women Art Show, the 4th Annual Juried Art Exhibition at The McKinney Center, and Art on the Walls at One Acre Cafe in Johnson City.

Follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest for home inspiration, gluten-free recipes, and photos of my art + home (okay…I admit there are more photos of my furbabies than art, but I can’t help myself because they are soooo adorable and funny!).

Thanks so much for sitting a spell with me!

I have been reading through a few of your posts this morning. You have such an inspiring blog! You are also fortunate to have such a clever husband. I love mine but he couldn’t see a straight line even if it hit him in the face! And as for DIY….well!! Thank-you so much for visiting my blog and for the follow.
