Chin Up Buttercup Because You Don’t Always Get What You Want

My goodness! It has been a long time since we have sat a spell and chatted. So much has happened since I put my running shoes on that I don’t even know where to start…Hmmmm…perhaps I should just make a brief list…and leave all the details and ins and outs for another day.

  • After I posted my last article “I’ve Got My Running Shoes On“–the little family and I kicked the renovation into high gear.
  • Lots of work, prayers, and breakdowns later–our house in Trussville, Alabama sold.
  • We were “homeless” for a few weeks because our house in Alabama sold before our house in Johnson City was ready–plus, there were several problems with paperwork–is my name really that hard to spell?
  • Moved into the new house–almost immediately painted the porch swing that my dad made me many moons ago bright pink.
  • Went to Stein Mart bought fun pillows–couldn’t resist the Chin Up Buttercup one because it was what I needed at that exact moment to remind me that God was right there with me–telling me that He had not left me…that I just needed to learn a few life lessons to make me a better, stronger person.

Two Blondes and a Stan: Bath Tub Baby Steps

Outside the Birmingham Museum of Art in Birmingham, Alabama

Outside the Birmingham Museum of Art in Birmingham, Alabama

When it came time to write this week’s Two Blondes and a Stan, I went through hundreds of photos and a dozen different ideas…should I tell y’all everything that has happened in this past week…would y’all even believe me, if I did?  Where do I even start?

The truth…I shall begin with the truth.  So grab a good cup of coffee, and sit a spell with me as we take a visit to the Birmingham Museum of Art and baby steps toward getting Abby’s bathroom complete.

Once upon a time, a boy met a girl…they got married…and eventually had a precious baby girl.  Flash forward seventeen years….

This precious baby girl is now seventeen…and keeps us on own our toes and on the road…and that is how we ended up at the Birmingham Museum of Art and not at home working on renovation projects.

IMG_1823I wouldn’t trade the weekend that my little family and I spent at the Birmingham Museum of Art for a thousand finished home projects.

After we got though celebrating Holi at the BMA, we got back to reality...working on Abby's bathroom.

Ziva has been fascinated with the home renovation. Her latest curiosity--the drill.

Ziva has been fascinated with the home renovation. “Hey, mom!  What is this?”

Ziva did not like the drill! I really wish I would have videoed the scene.

Even with all the weekend happenings, we did get some projects checked off the list…bath tub baby steps, baby, bath tub baby steps!

Now, it is time for a sneak peek of the home decor and wall art……………….

I like to position everything and live with it for awhile before I commit.  My number one tip for home renovation is hang wall art before painting that last coat of paint…live with it, and make sure you love where it is.  If you decide that you do, simply take it all down and paint that last coat.  If you decide you don’t like where you put all your art, simply take it all down, patch the nail holes, and try again!

Today has been a busy day. Abby, Lucy, and I made a quick road trip to Columbus, Mississippi for Abby to participate in a FlashPointOmniMedia radio show. No home projects were accomplished, but we had much fun and refueled our creative spirit.

Abby, Lucy, and I made a quick road trip to Columbus, Mississippi for Abby to participate in a FlashPointOmniMedia radio show. We spotted this Pepsi can painted on the side of a building in Gordo, Alabama.  Of course, we had to stop and take a few photos for Abby’s blog. No home projects were accomplished, but we had much fun and refueled our creative spirit.

Thanks for sitting a spell with me.  Be sure to keep up with all the randomness and renovation by clicking on the Facebook and Twitter buttons on the right sidebar.

Stay tuned to Sweet Sorghum Living as we reveal all the details about the home renovation–from paint colors to where to buy.

Much love,

Chasidy
